Schedule & Dates

Trash Collection for Thetford Township is every THURSDAY (schedule is subject to change)

Trash Pick-up is provided weekly. Please have your trash and recycling out by 7:00 a.m.

Recycling and Compost pick-up is provided per schedule (see schedule above). If a holiday falls on or before your scheduled day and is on a weekday (Monday-Friday), pick up will be one (1) day later than normal. If a holiday falls on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday), your scheduled day will not change even if the holiday is observed on Monday.

Trash

Containers should not weigh more than fifty (50) pounds each. For those with special pick-up needs contact Thetford Township at (810) 686-5200.

UNACCEPTABLE MATERIAL: Tires, concrete, fencing and contractor generated materials; free liquids (paints, pesticides), car parts and appliances containing Freon; fluorescent bulbs (in excess of seven per household), car batteries.

Compost

Service begins the first week of April through the last week of November.

Place in brown yard waste bags or in plastic 30-gallon containers clearly marked “X” facing the street. No compost will be accepted in plastic bags. Branches must be less than two (2) inches in diameter, less than four (4) feet in length and tied in bundles. Bundles and containers must weigh less than 50 pounds. No tree stumps or trunks are accepted.

Recycling

Recycling bins are available at the Township Hall. You will receive one recycling bin – each additional is $10.00. If your recycling bin is damaged, bring the damaged bin to the Township Hall for a replacement bin.

Schedule & Dates

  • Newspaper – Place newspapers, phone books, magazines & glossy newspaper inserts in brown paper bags or bundle and tie with string
  • Cardboard – Clean corrugated cardboard must be bundles and tied in two (2) foot squares, not exceeding a thickness of one (1) foot.
  • Plastic (#1-7) – Plastics should be rinsed clean with the cap removed. No motor oil, anti-freeze, or cooking oil containers please.
  • Cans – Clean tin and aluminum cans. These items may be fattened to conserve space in your container.
  • Glass – Only clear empty glass. The glass must be rinsed out.

Dump Permits

Residents who pay for the Garbage Special Assessment on their Winter tax bills may receive one free dump permit per month, available at the Township Hall.
